BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF KERN COUNTY
Art is especially beneficial for children. It encourages creativity, and helps children develop a sense of their own individuality, a sense of self-respect, and an appreciation of others' work. That's why the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County is so proud of our children's art program, and is pleased to announce the return of Artfest, our original signature fundraising event showcasing artwork by the children of the Boys & Girls Club.
Support of the Boys & Girls Club will help fund the many programs that give children the opportunity to enjoy experiences they might not otherwise have—experiences that will shape them for the rest of their lives.

Henri Matisse
FEATURED ARTIST
"Artfest - A Masterpiece in the Making" takes its theme for 2025 from the artwork of French artist Henri Matisse. His art is known for its bold colors, simplified forms, and expressive lines. He was a key figure in Fauvism, using vivid, non-naturalistic colors to convey emotion. Later in his career, Matisse created innovative "cut-outs," where he arranged painted paper shapes into vibrant compositions. His work often focused on beauty, light, and space, with a joyful and liberated style that emphasized form over detail.
