In 1966 the original Boys Club of Bakersfield opened a small clubhouse serving just a handful of boys through a modest fund set up by local leaders. Twenty years later, the club recognized that girls were already part of the cause throughout the nation and changed its name to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bakersfield to officially serve both boys and girls from the community. Then in 2007 after partnering with several school districts throughout Kern County, the club changed its name again to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County to reflect its reach and impact of serving over 8000 boys and girls daily throughout Kern County.

It would be an understatement to say, “We’ve come along way!”

To commemorate the year in which we opened, Club 66 was first created with a goal of gathering 66 generous members giving $66 a month to provide ongoing support for kids to attend the Club. Now Club 66 has been expanded to include new giving levels and perks for our friends who join.
